Working out, physical activity, exercise, movement, whatever you call it, it’s important to do it regularly. I know it’s easy for me to say, but honestly, the benefits of regular exercise are so great, beyond the common reasons of “losing weight” or “getting toned.” Today I’m sharing 10 very important reasons to make exercise a regular part of your life.
Reasons to Make Exercise a Regular Part of Your Life:
1. It can make you feel happier and give you an energy boost
When you exercise, your endorphins, or feel good hormones, kick in! You feel happier and more energetic. It’s a great way to start your day, fight the afternoon slump or get a boost of energy in the evening.
2. It can help you sleep better and improve the quality of your sleep
If you want a better nights sleep it’s been shown that there is a correlation between regular exercise and getting better sleep.

3. It makes your heart and body stronger and healthier
This one is self explanatory, regular exercise = healthier body
4. Exercise can lower anxiety and stress.
Regular exercise or movement has shown to really reduce your levels of stress and anxiety. (Scientific info)
5. You’ll never need to ask anyone for help to open a jar
This is one of my reasons and I think it’s valid. I love that regular exercise and strength training has made me strong enough not to have to ask for help when a jar lid is too tight. I can also bring all the groceries up myself, I can move heavy furniture. There’s nothing wrong with getting help but it’s nice to know your don’t need it.
6. It can help you with your mental health
Regular exercise has also been shown to help with mental health and mild to moderate depression. Again, it releases endorphins, takes your mind off negative thoughts and makes you feel more confident.
(If you are affected with more severe depression or mental health issues, it’s important to see your doctor. )
7. It can help with your digestive system
If you make exercise a regular part of your life, it may also help support healthy digestion by allowing your body to absorb nutrients more effectively and keep your digestive tract moving. Yoga practice has also been known to help a lot with digestion.
8. It’s good for your muscles and bones
As we get older, we tend to lose muscle mass and bone density. This can lead to injuries and disabilities. So, if you make exercise (especially strength training) a regular part of your life, it will help with reducing muscle loss and maintaining strength.
9. Regular exercise can reduce your risk of chronic disease
It can improve a number of health problems, including high blood pressure, cholesterol levels, type 2 diabetes and arthritis.
10. And last but not least, you may find a really great community or fitness tribe that’ll motivate you and that you’ll have fun with!
The reasons and benefits of making exercise a regular part of your life are countless. If you already exercise, why do you do it? And if you want to make it a part of your life, which of these reasons resonate with you?
