It’s time for 3 Things Thursday! And this week I’m sharing my three things from San Diego as we’re on a family vacation.
1. Keyan turns 5
Hands down, Keyan’s 5th birthday is the highlight of my week. A can’t believe how he’s gone from being a little baby to this amazing boy! And 5 is a really big one. He’s no longer a toddler, he officially starts kindergarten in September and he can even swim by himself now. I could probably go on for a while about how awesome this kid is, but that’s why I put his birthday in #3ThingsThurs so it’s not a whole post that’s just mommy gushing 🙂
2. African Safari
It’s official, I’ve added an African Safari to my life’s bucket list! After going to San Diego’s Zoo Safari Park and having a great experience, I want to do the real thing one day. And it’s perfect because I also want to visit Kenya where my parents where born and grew up so I can have a two-in-one deal!
Is our family the only one who had never made s’mores before?! Our hotel was having a s’mores night at the fire pits near the pool, so we all decided to go check it out since none of us have ever eaten them. We’ve roasted marshmelows before, but that’s about it. When we got there, we saw marshmellows, chocolate, graham crackers and skewers, so we took a little bit of everything and then just looked at each other. When someone else came by, we had to ask what to do. He was incredulous when he found out we had never made smores before. Once we found out the technique, we roasted our marshmellows and then created our gooie little sandwiches. And wow, that was one sweet treat!
That’s my things this week. Make sure to check out my #3ThingsThurs co-hosts, Raj from Pink Chai Living and Nisha from Love Laugh Mirch for their awesome posts. We also want you to link up with us! All you have to do is write a post about your favorite three things from this week, grab the 3 Things badge and link up below.

Happy Belated Birthday Keyan! He is such a cute little man, I don’t think any one would fault you for writing a whole post about him 🙂
Thanks so much Sarah!
Happy birthday to your son. Half a decade already! What a cutie 🙂
well this a lovely way to express urself through three highlights of week. i wish keyan a bright future
Thank you Amar.
No your family is not the only one who has never made smores. I just made smores with my daughter for the first time 2 years ago. I have yet to do it with my son lol
I’m glad I’m not alone Choya 🙂
Great post! Love the idea of 3thingsthursday 🙂 And happy belated birthday to Keyan!!
Thanks Stacey! Hope you can join in our 3 Things Thursday!
Happy Belated Birthday- what a lovely post!
What a fun idea your hotel had to make smores by the pool! I can only imagine what a hit they were with your kids. The first time I had smores was as an adult as well-so you are not the only one late to the game:)
Actually, I think I liked them more than the kids Renata! They preferred just the marshmallows alone.
That reminded me that me son always wanted to go on safari to Africa when he was small but we were told it wasn’t suitable for children under 12. Apparently they have to be quiet for long periods waiting for the animals to appear and it’s boring for them a lot of the time. I’m not sure how true that is but he’s definitely old enough now so I should put that on our list too.
It definitely sounds tough for young kids. That would be an amazing trip now that he’s old enough!!
All feel good things. 😀 Your son is a cutey! Happy Birthday to him!
Wow, 5 is a big number. Hope Kenyan had a great day. I keep on meaning to link up with this. Unfortunately, I never know which day it is. I’m not sure I’d be good at consistently posting 3 Things Thursday on Thursdays. It might end up as 5 Things Fridays the majority of the time….
You should definitely link up Allison, 3 Things Friday works for us 🙂
A fun trio! I was in Girl Guides and making s’mores was a huge highlight….but my Floridian husband has never had one!
