Some mornings there’s just not enough time to sit down and eat breakfast when there are kids to get ready, lunches to pack up, preschool’s do get to etc. So I’ve been experimenting with breakfast smoothies. I’ve been trying different fruits and different ways of getting protein. Here is one of my favourites. It’s actually a recipe that my sister-in-law suggested we try. I like to call it the Banana Date Breakfast Smoothie.
Banana Date Breakfast Smoothie Recipe
1 banana
4-5 pitted dates
2 Tbsp almond butter (or sunflower butter)
1 (or 2) tsp cacao powder
1/2 -3/4 cup vanilla almond milk
Instructions:
1. Blend all the ingredients together until completely pureed. Dates may take a little longer to completely blend in.
2. Refrigerate to cool or enjoy right away.
It’s that simple. Once you try this creamy, chocolatey delicious Banana Date Breakfast Smoothie, you’ll be hooked.
*This smoothie is also dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan

Looks good, but I’m usually so tired in the morning I don’t have the energy to make more than a bowl of cereal…
