We’ve been having an amazing summer this year! Partly because of the great weather and partly because of all the fun things we’ve been doing as part of our Summer Bucket List. One of the items on the list was to visit the waterslides. I used to go with my parents all the time growing up but as an adult, I don’t think I’ve ever gone! Now I was excited to go again and bring my children for their first experience.
We got the opportunity to go recently with a group of YVR Bloggers so I got the kids ready, dragged along my brother Adil for a fun morning at Splashdown Park.
The park has 4 really great advanced slides, two medium slides which, the tube river slide, three toddler slides and more! So there’s is something for everyone.
I won’t lie, my kids, who are 5 and 3 were hesitant to go on any waterslides. My youngest was even crying at the idea. But I knew if they just tried it, they would love it, just like me! And I was right. First we tackled the kiddie slides with the kids in our laps. Then we headed to the bigger slides. Kyah cried all the way down and when we landed in the water, while she was still crying Kyah said, “I want to go again.” My brother and I couldn’t stop laughing.
After that, it was a whole lot more fun! Keyan started going down the kiddie slides all by himself and we did the bigger slides together, countless more times. We stopped for a little lunch and Splashdown had tons of grassy areas, shade and tables to sit on while we munched. We brought our own food, but Splashdown has a concession if you want to buy your lunch.
Then my bro and I left the kids with friends for 15 minutes or so and tackled the big slides! First we did the River Run on an inner tube which we loved and totally brought back childhood memories. Then it was to the top to do the crazy slides like the Kamikazi, Corkscrew and Whipper Snapper.
Then we took a little dip in the hot tub before we headed back home from a wonderful day.
We can now mark another one off the bucket list and the kids (and I) can’t wait to hit the waterslides again, hopefully before the end of summer. The only problem is, we were having so much fun that we forgot to take lots of pictures to remember our first experience, but I know these are memories my kids will always remember in their minds.
How is your summer bucket list going? What’s one big thing on your list you want to accomplish before the summer’s over?
That bit about Kyah crying while asking to go again has me smiling. So cute!
My kids are really excited to go back too.
That was so funny Jenn and I’m not surprised your kids are ready to go back 🙂 It was a ton of fun.
What a blast experience, I have never been on a 4 great splash. I would love to visit Splashdown Park.
Waterslides really are a lot of fun!
Sounds like you’ll had a fun day.
Dropping by from UBC
Thanks Suzy, we definitely did!
Your family seem to be having so much fun. These are memories you will cherish forever. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Nathaniel! Yes, I hope we’re creating memories that will last a lifetime.
That water slide looks like so much fun! I wish I hadn’t worked two jobs all summer :/
Well, there’s always next summer too 🙂
Having a summer bucket list is an inspired idea! We had to cancel our summer vacation, so that is one thing we haven’t done yet–we hope to do that in the fall. Looks like you all are having a great time!
You should definitely do watersides Amy. Fun for the adults and kids!
Looks like your kids had as much fun as you did. It’s cool you went with your brother and had childhood memories together. That’s nice. I love going places with my brother. My bucklet list thing is to go to W. Virginia in October with my boyfriend. Thanks for sharing your day with us!
Thanks Jeanne! I hope you get to visit W Virginia soon.
Lovely pics and seems like you all had awesome fun!
Hey Salma – this is a great recap and wonderful pics – great spending that day with all of you
