My whole blogging life changed in 2013 when I was selected as one of Vancouver Mom’s Top 30 Bloggers. It may sound a bit dramatic, but it’s true!
Being selected was an honour for me, especially because I had only been blogging for 6 months. A party was held to celebrate all the bloggers, and let me tell you, I was terrified! I didn’t know a single other bloggers as I had just moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver a few months before. I took my brother with me so that I would know at least one person! The party ended up being lots of fun. I got to meet new people, get an awesome headshot, and take home a great swag bag (translation: a bag of goodies.) I wish I had a post to share with you about the event, but I was still such a blogging newbie that I didn’t take any pictures or or share on social media!
Of course, a lot of things have changed since then. Now I take pictures wherever I go, because you never know when you’ll want to share them or write a blog post, right? The biggest thing that came from this though, were the connections and friendships I have made and sustained.
I never realized how big and pretty awesome the blogging community was at the time. Now I know. I’ve made so many amazing friends, mentors and connections because of this and I will always be grateful.
Now, every year, I apply to be an ambassador for the new crop of Vancouver Mom’s Top 30 Bloggers. I love that all these bloggers are getting the recognition they deserve and that they will be developing and fostering new relationships that they never dreamed of!
This years Top 30 are another set of awesome mom bloggers. We will all be celebrating on June 17 at the new Nicole Bridger location in Gaston, with some nibbles, champagne, a fashion show, shopping and of course, great conversation.
The sponsors of the event this year are:
Happy Baby Cheeks
Nita Lake Lodge
Float House
Nicole Bridger
If you want to come and join the celebration, I promise it will be a wonderful night. My friend Taslim over at Let Me Out Creative said it best, “You don’t have to be a blogger to attend…but I can’t promise you won’t turn into one by the end of the night!”
You can buy tickets through Eventbrite for this fun night. I hope to see you there!
This sounds like a great group of bloggers. There’s nothing more rewarding than meeting ‘virtual’ people face to face. I remember the warmth I got when I met one American writer from an internet group here in the UK.
The blogging community really is wonderful Francene 🙂
That’s a well earned honor, especially given the size of Vancouver. I was invited to one blogging event locally where I live, but because I work full time and it was a lunchtime event, I wasn’t able to attend. I’ve only met one blogger in person. You are fortunate!
Hopefully one day you’ll be able to meet more!
