If you follow my blog, you know that we love 4Cats! We had my son’s 6th birthday there, my sister’s 30th birthday there and even some girl’s nights. So a couple weeks back when I saw that they were having a class where you could make your family tree out of clay, I signed us up!
I also told one of my friends and fellow blogger, Taslim of Let Me Out Creative to bring her lovely family along to make a family tree as well. This way we could hang out in real life and get to know each other’s families as well while we were being creative and having fun!
So last weekend, I took my family of four and Taslim brought her family of five to 4 Cats Art Studio on Shaughnessy and we settled in as Messy Marnie led us step-by-step through the details of making ourselves out of clay. It was a lot of fun trying to get in the right details, like our kids’ eyes, my husbands beard and my four-year old’s braids.
Once the clay figures were done, we then got to paint the background of our canvas as well as the tree where our mini family would be glued on to and then baked.
A couple days later, we went to pick up our family tree and I have to say, we were all pretty proud of the end result. Now we just have to pick a place to proudly display our fun little clay family tree.
p.s. This is not a sponsored post, I just love how this Family Tree turned out and had to share it with you all!
I love it. What a wonderful enterprise for the whole family to get involved with. I want one of those family trees.
They did come out nice – you have a talented family. And, what a great idea, to have a visual family tree. Better than photographs.
These are so cute!
thanks Puja!
