We have a lot of bananas in our house and usually they all get eaten. However, on the odd occasion we will have some stragglers, one or two overripe bananas that are at a point where no one wants to eat them. Usually I make Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins or Banana Bread Cookies. Earlier this year, I was visiting family in Toronto and my aunt mentioned to me how she just used frozen bananas to make ice cream. I thought that was a pretty brilliant idea so with the last leftover, overripe banana, I decided to try it out.
Organic Cocoa (optional)
Vanilla extract (optional)
1. So basically, all you do is take your frozen bananas out of the freezer. (I like to peel them and cut them before, put them in a container and then store them in freezer.)
2. Once you’re ready to have banana ice cream, put your frozen bananas in the food processor and blend. First it’ll go through a crumbly stage but wait it out and soon it’ll be smooth and creamy. You can just eat it like that or you can add extra flavour like, cocoa or honey (which we did this time.) You can even add vanilla.
And that’s really it. You can eat it right away or you can put it back in the freezer for a harder consistency, what ever you prefer! We got some thumbs up for this dessert in our house 🙂

I am not a big dessert person but that dessert sounds delicious! I like the honey and the chocolate with it. I’m going to have to try this one too! Thanks for stopping by my website as well …really appreciate it!
I hope you like it Dale!
I predict this will be the future for the four browning bananas currently in my fruit bowl! This looks so easy
That’s a good combo idea Ana!
This looks great! I actually tried to make banana ice cream in the past with my vitamix. I will try your recipe. Looks healthy as well. 🙂
Definitely healthy 🙂
What a brilliant idea! We always seem to have browning bananas that we can’t finish, so I’ll have to try this next time. Thanks for sharing!
I have a sweet tooth and love ice cream!
I think I’d put it in my freezer overnight to harden it a little. It sounds yummy!
This will satisfy your sweet tooth 🙂
