This week I am on vacation with my family in the lovely Okanagon and I was tempted to skip this weeks link up. But we’ve been having a lot of fun so I thought it might be a nice to write a Penticton edition of 3 Things Thursday.
Right now as I’m writing, I sitting in a fabulous massive backyard of our rental house (which I will tell you more about later.) I’m lounging on a chair as I watch my kids and my parents hang out in the hot tub. Pretty great huh?
Here is what else we’ve been doing so far this week in Penticton.
1. Peach Picking
This morning we decided to head to Summerland, a quick 20 minute drive from Penticton, to go peach picking at EP Orchards. It was a lot of fun for all of us! It was a wonderful family owned place with a playground and lots of organic peaches to pick. I have to tell you, that they were the sweetest peaches I have ever tasted in my life! On top of that, they encouraged taste testing while we picked. How great it that. (p.s apparently I need to take tips on how to pose for photos from my 4-year old! See below.)
2. Skaha Beach
Of course Skaha beach is one of our most visited places when we go to Penticton. The beach is fun, the water is great and who doesn’t like playing in the sand? This trip, coincided with my friend and SABN partner, Raj’s family trip as well. So we actually met up and our families spent the afternoon together on the beach, playing cards, eating, swimming and of course enjoying the sand. It’s nice to hangout when we are not working too 🙂
3. The Pyramid
On one of our drives, we decided to stop at a small picnicking area near Penticton that’s called Pyramid. It’s near the water, has some picnic tables and bbq pits. Growing up, we always used to go there with our dinner and we used to climb up the hills that were shaped like pyramids. Today, I got to take my kids to the top of the hill. They had so much fun and can’t wait to do it again. I don’t know if you can tell how high it is from the picture, but in the background, that’s the view of the highway!
We still have lots of plans for the rest of out week here. They include horseback riding, river channeling, mini golf, go-carts, barbecue’s, ice cream and apparently some of the most amazing burgers in BC! To follow along on our adventures, check me out on Instagram where I’ll be sharing daily or follow the hashtag #TheWriteBalanceInPenticton.
Those are my #3ThingsThursday this week. I’d love hear yours! It’s very simple to join in the fun. Write a blog post about three things you want to share. Grab the badge from the top of my post. Make sure to link back to either myself, Salma at The Write Balance, Raj at Pink Chai Living or Nisha at Love Laugh Mirch. Then click on the linky below to add your post. It’s just that easy.
Have a great Thursday!
Looks like you guys are having a grand time! I wish that someday my family can go on vacations like that too! But with a family of 6, it’s a little hard to do that! I’m a little jealous of you! 😉
We are Janice 🙂 I can imagine it must be a lot harder with 6 than with 4!
There’s nothing more delicious than a peach eaten straight from the tree. I envy you. Your holiday sounds wonderful. Wish I was there.
It was very delicious, thanks Francene!
Sounds like such a fun time! I go up to the Okanagan once a year but I’ll have to make a point to stop at some of the places you mentioned! (Although I’ve never gone during peach season, but always mean to! This year we did get a chance to pick cherries though!)
Also love that you and Raj were able to meet up. Great minds vacation alike, right?
Picking cherries is so much fun too Ritu, hopefully next year we can go a little earlier so the kids can do that too!
I remember visiting Vancouver, BC years ago from my home in upstate New York, and being amazed by the local peaches from the Okanagan area being sold in farmers markets. I enjoyed your pictures. Sounds like a great vacation.
It has been, thanks Alana.
