I’m a big fan of Bollywood. I love the music, the clothing and definitely the movies. I’ve been watching them for as long as I can remember. I can understand a lot of it, but those subtitles really come in handy.
I want my kids to enjoy what Bollywood has to offer as well. They already like the music, so this year I decided it was time to try out a Bollywood movie. Luckily, Netflix has a lot of movies to offer that we can all enjoy.
Now there are lot of different types of Bollywood movies and just like regular movies, not all of them are suitable for kids. So I’ve compiled a list of 5 Bollywood Movies That Your Kids Can Watch. No violence, no bad language just, some romance, comedy and lots of songs!
1. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
This was the first Bollywood movie my kids watched and they really liked it! The story is of a shy, nerdy guy whose circumstances find him in an arranged marriage to a beautiful women. The story unfolds with lots of fun as he tries usual ways to get her to fall in love with him. There are also lots of great songs in it!
2. Hum Apke Hain Kaun
This is one of the first in a long run of completely family friendly movies that started in the 80’s. No fighting, no swearing, just lots of love, laughter and songs of course. Yes of course there has to be something sad to make the plot and have a little stuggle.
3. We Are Family
This movie is a Bollywood remake of the film Stepmom where divorced parents deal with family, children, new love and upheaval. It’s movie the whole family can watch.
4. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham
Loosely translated, this movie means sometimes there is happiness and sometimes there is sadness. This is a really good movie that your kids will be sure to enjoy. It’s about the importance of family and standing up for yourself.
5. Hum Saath Saath Hain
Another movie that revolves around a big family and their love for each other. There is an obstacle to overcome with lots of dancing and songs along the way!
I am a member of the the Netflix Stream Team and have been given a Netflix membership to help facilitate my posts. As always, all the opinions in this post are 100% my own.
Love all those movies, wonderful choice. I was just thinking the other day, how many movies I used to watch when I was living at home. I used to borrow tones of “tapes for VCR” :)) from Kamal’s Video on Main Street lol Good old days!!
Yes, those were the good old days!
I’ve only seen one Bollywood movie. I enjoyed it. These movies give insight into a different culture – plus offer some wonderful singing, dancing, and costumes. When I used to take Zumba classes, we would sometimes exercise to Bollywood music and some of the dance steps were incorporated into our routine – that also would be a fun family activity, come to think of it.
