I recently participated in a Moms 30 for 30 fashion challenge. Here I learned the importance of accessorizing outfits and how it can totally change the look of what you’re wearing! Scarves definitely fall into that category. I do have a handful of scarves, but I noticed myself gravitating towards infinity scarves. For some reason, I like them better. I like the look and how you can style them in different ways.
I also noticed that infinity scarves are a lot more expensive than regular ones. In my thriftiness, I tried tying my other scarves at the back to make it into a circle. But it always bulged at the back of my neck and wasn’t completely comfortable. And I’m the first to admit, I’m not the craftiest person out there so sewing them would probably end up pretty messy and that would be permanent. What if I wanted the scarf to be versatile and used as a regular and infinity scarf? Well, I figured out the solution. It’s so easy, we can all do it and save money, win win!
I picked two scarves to try this DIY on. A colourful scarf with tassels on the end that I got as a gift. The other one, I recently bought from H&M. I love polka dots and when I saw the price tag for $7.95 (hello frugal find!) I couldn’t resist.
For Scarves That Have Tassels:
1. Fold your scarf in half so that the tassels meet.
2. Then all you have to do is tie the tassels from the opposite ends of the scarf together into knots (see photo below.) It’s as easy as that!! Tie them all, or just tie the ends and a few in the middle. That way it’s easy to open up when you want to wear it as a regular scarf!
For Scarves That Have A Flat Edge:
1. Some people might call this lazy, but I think it’s ingenious (even if I do say so myself.) Fold your scarf in half until the two flat edges meet.
2. Then take some safety pins and pin the two ends together and the middle. (You can use more safety pins if desired.)
There you have two extremely easy ways to change your regular scarves into infinity scarves in just minutes. And it’s just as easy to take apart. Now head to your closet and transform some of those scarves you have been saving and spice up your wardrobe with some cute Infinity Scarves that you can say you made yourself!
