Living in Canada, it took me a while to realize that there are so many awesome family friendly vacations in Canada!
We’ve done a few different Canadian family vacations that we’ve really enjoyed and there are more on our bucket list!
Family Friendly Vacations in Canada
1. Banff
If you’ve never been to Banff, you need to add it to your bucket list! It’s probably one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. It’s literally a scenic view, everywhere you turn. Situated in Alberta’s Rockies, it’s a great place for families with lots of fun things for the kids to to do from, horse drawn carriage rides and a natural hot springs, to fun little hikes and glow in the dark bowling.
2. Winnipeg
When I put this Canadian city on the list the reaction is probably, where is Winnipeg? Or really, Winterpeg?! But in all seriousness, Winnipeg is actually a super family friendly city for a vacation. We lived there for 6 years and there was so much great stuff for the kids to do. The list of things go on from the amazing Children’s Museum, The Forks, The Royal Canadian Mint, the Assiniboine Zoo and so much more!
3. Whistler
Whistler is known world-wide for it’s amazing skiing. It’s also a great destination for a family vacation, any time of the year. There are so many great things to do like family events in Whistler Village, special actives, an awesome playground, special shows and of course, skiing, skating and tobogganing.
4. Victoria
A gem in British Columbia, Victoria is another wonderful city and one of our favourite when it comes to family friendly vacations in Canada. It’s a small city, full of history and so much to see and do. Some of my favourites for kids with families is the miniature museum, the parliament building and high tea. Check out my blog post for the whole list.
You will also want to check out all these great places to eat when you take your trip to Victoria.
5. Montreal
I’ve been to Montreal twice in my life, once as a child and once in my twenties. I loved it both times and I really think the kid’s would enjoy it so much. With all the culture an history in this beautiful city, it seems worth a visit. Check out this post on Trip Savvy to find out all the great things to do with kids in Montreal.
6. Vancouver
I may seem a bit biased when I put Vancouver on the list, since I’ve lived most of my life here, but it is actually one of the most beautiful cities, with so much for kids and families to do, all year round. Some of our favourites include, Science World, Stanley Park, the Aquarium, Granville Island and so much more!
7. Niagara Falls
I was born in Niagara Falls and recently went back on a trip and it’s still as breathtaking and beautiful as I remember. I add it to the list of family friendly vacations in Canada because not only is it home to one of the natural wonders of the world, it also has a ton of fun, family things to do, making it a perfect place for your next vacation.
8. Penticton
We love the Okanagan. Growing up, my parents would take us every year and it’s a tradition I’m trying to continue with my own kids. Along with two wonderful beaches, there are a lot of great activities to do in Penticton from cherry and peach picking, to biking, riding the lazy river, go carting and more.
There are so many more great destination in Canada for a family vacation. These are 8 of our favourite family friendly vacations in Canada. After seeing these, which one are you putting on your travel bucket list?
